A Geofence is a virtual geographic zone created on a map. It is used to restrict where Self Service clockings can be made. An employee would need to be inside the Geofence in order to clock in or out using Self Service.
Assigning people to Geofences is done from within their Self Service Profile. This guide will look at the two options available:
This will use the employee’s own locations as Geofences. These are the locations that have been assigned to them in their Employee Form.
For example, an employee that has four locations assigned to them in their Employee Form would use all four of these as Geofences.
Here you can define which of the locations will be Geofences, overriding whatever locations are assigned to the employee in their Employee Form. For example, an employee may have four locations assigned to them in their Employee Form but, if their Self Service Profile Geofence is set to just one location, they will only be able to clock in or out at that one specified location.
You can turn Geofences off at any time by selecting ‘No Geolocation’ (turns off all Geolocation) or ‘Use Geolocation’ (locations of clockings will still appear on timesheets).
It is important to note, in order for Geolocation to work, employees using the Self Service App must have Location Services enabled on their phone and must agree to the App using their location.
Draw an area on the map to define a Geofence, an area where your team must be inside before they can perform a valid clocking.
