Some absence requests are used for communication purposes and don’t require supervisor approval. You may use an Absence Request to allow employees to communicate when they are working from home for example, or visiting a customer offsite. In these cases, you can create requests that will automatically be approved by Focus.
This guide will look at:
There are certain steps that must be fulfilled before an employee can request an Absence that will automatically be granted.
Bear in mind that setting this value does not mean all such Absence Requests will be automatically granted. The employee will also need to have permission to use the feature in their Self Service Profile. If they don’t have this, they will still be able to make normal requests for the absence.
The Self Service Profile can be assigned to whichever Employees you wish to benefit from this functionality.
Employees who meet the criteria to be able to request an auto-granting absence will submit a request like normal. The difference is they will see a message informing them if the absence they are requesting will auto-grant.
Important Note: Unlike most granted Absences, employees can cancel auto-granted Absences, as long as the Absence date is still in the future. They can do this by tapping the Absence on their Holiday page.
Once the Absence Request has been made it will show in the employee’s schedule like any other confirmed Absence.
There are a couple of different ways to request time off - these are the quickest.
An Absence Reason is the reason a Focus User gives to something happening.
In order to ensure that you have enough cover in place, you may wish to set a minimum notice period that employees have to give when making absence requests.
