Requests for available shifts are made through the Self Service App on your phone or similar handheld device. This guide will walk you through:
The requested shift is now faded in colour and shows as being ‘Requested’.
If you wish to cancel a request, for whatever reason, the process is almost a reversal of requesting a shift.
The shift will now show as being ‘Available’ again and will no longer be faded in colour.
Important - you cannot cancel a request in the App once the shift has been confirmed. In order to do so, you will need to speak to your line manager.
A shift is confirmed once it has been allocated to you in the Rota. The requested shift will then change to being blue in colour.
If, at any stage, a ‘Requested’ or ‘Available’ shift disappears from view, then the shift is no longer available (ie. maybe staffing requirements have changed or the shift has been allocated to another employee).
In Schedule View, you have the option to see all shifts, whether they are confirmed, requested or available. By unticking ‘Show Available Shifts’, only confirmed shifts will be visible in Schedule View. However, this does not affect Calendar View, where all shifts will still be visible.
If you can’t see ‘Available Shift’ (with the gold dot) when in Calendar View and ‘Show Available Shifts’ in Schedule View, then you do not have access to this feature. Contact your System Administrator if you have any questions.
There are a couple of different ways to request time off - these are the quickest.

Before you can use Self Service on your smartphone, you need to install the app and know how to log in.
